Importance of Moral Values in a student’s life

-Savita Kapoor

Everyone knows that life is precious. Everyone in this world is running after one thing or the other. No matter what you do, your ultimate goal, beyond what you are trying to accomplish at the moment, is to achieve your own happiness and become a good person. Look around yourself, how many people are happy today, how many of them are satisfied with what they have? Maybe no one. We have everything still we are not contented; the reason is we have lost our values in this corrupted world where no one cares for others. Take an example of a man lying on the road and bleeding but there is no one to help him. What has happened to us, are we following the right path? In order to achieve happiness and become a good person, you must know that character is the greatest success factor of all. Positive moral values are important for children because they allow children to have an overall feeling of peace and joy. When you live your life according to moral values that are based on honesty, compassion, courage, modesty and forgiveness then you can form a bond with other people. Moral values help in preparing the child for the future role that he/she has to play in society when he/she grows up. A student’s life is full of challenges, if we neglect the teaching of moral values in school, they will not be able to perceive, comprehend and distinguish the difference between right or wrong.

Values are important because they help us to grow and develop, they help us to create the future we want to experience. When Family, school, companies and society in general functions poorly, many times it is due to a lack of shared values reflected in a lack of consistency between what is said and what is done. Today in this busy world, where both the parents are working, they have no time to give values to their children who are the pillars of a country. Values not only need to be defined, they must also be maintained and promoted. Only then they will have a better chance of understanding and using them in their daily activities. This is why making the conscious effort to identify values is so important which we together have to do as, “United we stand and divided we fall”.
